Friends Book Sale Closes as Library Launches Packed Summer Event Schedule
The Friends of the Wareham Free Library close out their three-day June Book Sale today, capping a busy stretch of summer programming at 59 Marion Road even as Town Hall heads into a holiday-week lull.
TOWN HALL
Town offices will be closed Wednesday, July 2, with all departments shuttered July 3, 2026 as well — residents should plan ahead for any permit, payment, or licensing needs. The town has also posted a reminder that Town Hall will be closed that day, so the window before the long weekend is short.
On the calendar front, the town is gathering community input on a significant question: whether to hold fireworks at Onset's 150th Anniversary celebration in 2027. The Onset Fireworks Committee has published a survey asking residents to weigh in on the community's preferences for that milestone event. Residents can find the survey through the town's website.
Also posted on the town homepage: a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is set for August 1, running 9 a.m. to noon at Municipal Maintenance, 95 Charge Pond Road. A Wareham or Carver Transfer Station sticker is required for participation.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Today is the final day of the Friends of the Wareham Free Library's June Book Sale, which runs through June 27. Shoppers looking for a deal on summer reading have until closing time at the library, 59 Marion Road, to browse the collection.
Looking ahead just days: on Monday, June 29, the library hosts its outdoor Concerts on the Lawn series featuring the Catnip Junkies, beginning at 7 p.m. Then on Wednesday, July 1, the library presents "The Women of '76" at 6:30 p.m. — a program tied to American Revolutionary history that fits neatly into the approaching Independence Day holiday.
