Norwell Enacts Tier 4 Water Restrictions as Library Lands $35,000 Tech Grant

DATELINE — NORWELL

Tier 4 water restrictions remain in effect across Norwell, the most pressing active notice from town hall, while the Norwell Public Library continues to roll out a newly announced technology grant worth more than $35,000 — two developments residents should have on their radar heading into the weekend.

TOWN HALL

Norwell is currently operating under Tier 4 water restrictions, issued June 17. Tier 4 represents a significant conservation level; residents should review the town's Water Restriction Program guidelines at townofnorwell.net for details on what is and is not permitted.

The town's Advisory Board also has open seats, with applications due by July 31. Residents interested in serving on one of Norwell's volunteer boards are encouraged to apply through the town website before that deadline.

Additionally, a previously posted notice reminds residents that Jacobs Island remains closed to public access.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Norwell Public Library has received a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program, and the benefits are already visible: the library has launched a new Device Lending Program, with four Dell Pro 14 laptops available for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude Touch Screen laptops available for take-home checkout. Residents can visit the Main Desk or call the library at 781-659-2015 to learn more.

One budget-related change is also in effect: due to funding cuts, the library has eliminated seasonal Sunday hours. More information on the FY26 budget impact is available on the library's website at norwellpubliclibrary.org.

The library's June Newsletter is out and includes the latest on programs and upcoming events. The library's regular hours are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
