Norwell Holds Tier 4 Water Restrictions With No End Date in Sight

Water conservation is the top story in town this week, with Tier 4 restrictions still in effect and several volunteer and civic deadlines looming for residents.

TOWN HALL

Norwell's Tier 4 water restrictions, declared June 17, remain in force. Tier 4 is the most stringent level under the town's Water Restriction Program, and residents should review the Water Department's guidelines for allowable outdoor water use. The town has not issued a lifting notice as of this coverage cycle.

The town is also reminding residents that Advisory Board vacancies are open, with an application deadline of June 29. The Advisory Board plays a central role in Norwell's municipal finance and budget review process, and the town is encouraging qualified residents to apply before the month ends.

Separately, Jacobs Island remains closed to public access per an April notice that has not been rescinded.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Norwell Public Library has two noteworthy developments for patrons this week. The library recently launched a Device Lending Program, adding four Dell Pro 14 laptops available for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude touchscreen laptops available for take-home checkout. Residents can visit the Main Desk or call the library for details.

The library also recently received a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program — funding that likely supports the new device lending initiative. Budget constraints have, however, eliminated the library's seasonal Sunday hours; more detail on the FY26 budget impact is available on the library's website at norwellpubliclibrary.org.
